Mycotoxin contamination in raw material and feed can lead to detrimental impacts on animal health and performance. Therefore, the inclusion of a mycotoxin binder in the diet is recommended to alleviate the potential negative effects of mycotoxins in animal production. Commercial mycotoxin binders vary in their capacity to adsorb mycotoxins. The actual worldwide situation requires a broad-spectrum mycotoxin binder with a high selective efficacy without reducing the bioavailability of nutrients. In addition, the efficacy of this recommended solution must be rapid and stable to ensure the binding capacity throughout the intestine, the first exposure line with mycotoxin contamination.
BIŌNTE has developed BIŌNTE® QUIMITŌX® PLUS a triple action mycotoxin binder. Thanks to the combination of its ingredients, the product offers three lines of action: adsorption, bioprotection and post-biotic effect, which provide an effective, selective and fast-acting response on the animal.
In regard with the adsorption capacity, BIŌNTE® QUIMITŌX® PLUS contains selected adsorbent material that ensure its efficacy. In order to test the adsorption capacity of the product an in vitro efficacy test was performed in collaboration with Trilogy Lab (US), a recognized lab in the mycotoxins analysis industry.
The aim of the in vitro test was to evaluate the capacity of BIŌNTE® QUIMITŌX® PLUS to bind the following mycotoxins: zearalenone (ZEN), fumonisin B1 (FB1), ochratoxin A (OTA), T2-mycotoxin, and aflatoxin B1 (AFB1). In order to simulate the gastrointestinal tract, the binding capacity was determined at pH 3 (simulating the stomach) and at pH 6 (simulating the intestine), using high pressure liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS).
Results demonstrates that BIŌNTE® QUIMITŌX® PLUS is able to completely bind (>90%) aflatoxin B1, zearalenone, and T2-mycotoxin at pH3. In addition, the adsorption of fumonisin B1 (78.2%) and ochratoxin (73.2%) is considered very high at the stomach simulation conditions tested.
At the intestinal level, the efficacy of BIŌNTE® QUIMITŌX® PLUS is very high for aflatoxin B1 and zearalenone (> 90%), and high for T2-mycotoxin (83.3%), as well as fumonisin B1 and ochratoxin (>73%) tested at pH6.
Therefore, there is minimal desorption: 0% AFB1, 0.2% FB1, 0.9% OTA, 9.4% ZEN, 12.1% T2.
As a conclusion, BIŌNTE® QUIMITŌX® PLUS is a premium mycotoxins binder with selected adsorbing material with a rapid, stable and irreversible adsorption of mycotoxins. The high efficacy of the product against a broad spectrum of mycotoxins is accompanied by the high selectivity activity as the product does not adsorb essential nutrients. In addition, the product is exempted of dioxins and heavy metals.
BIŌNTE® QUIMITŌX® PLUS is a mixture of adsorbing material which ensures its adsorption capacity. It is also fortified with natural plant extracts and selected yeasts that provides a bioprotective and post-biotic effect aimed to mitigate mycotoxins and to boost animal nutrition.
